I have been attending yoga classes often lately. Each time, each experience has been an uplifting one. There is a wonderful place called “Yoga to the People”. It’s a donation-based organization that believes that yoga should be available to all people. I feel very fortunate to have this available to me here in NYC. Yoga makes me stronger, happier, relaxed, more patient, calmer and even wiser. Healing has felt so natural lately. I’m almost there.
At the end of most classes, a quote is recited. In my most recent class the quote brought me to tears. The kind of tears that fall when you feel like you finally understand yourself. Tears of joy undoubtedly. These words touched me possibly more than any ever have before. I’ve spent much of my life longing to understand love and the love I feel for others in my life. This helps it all make sense and I just plain feel good when I read it…
“Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won’t either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could.”
